Could the enemy of my enemy be my friend?
On November 27th Massimo Turina and Cristina Marzachì of the IPSP-CNR will present the Viroplant project to an Italian high school class and demonstrate that some viruses can truly become our allies. Viruses are generally associated to the emergence of harmful diseases, especially now during the COVID-19 pandemic. Actually, not only most of them poses no harm to our everyday life, but they are even essential elements for the balance of ecosystems. The two scientists will explain that viruses can be used as environmentally friendly tools for the biological control of plant diseases caused by bacteria, fungi and insects.
