The exploitation of VIROPLANT transcriptomic data gives rise to the PHASER project

PHASER is the IPSP-CNR winner project in the “Agriculture, forestry and environment” strategic area of the DISBA Research Project Award 2021. The aim of Phaser is to study the presence of bacteriophages in four insect vectors of important plant diseases using both an innovative, based on RNAseq analysis, and a traditional, based on microscopic observations, approach. This project will demonstrate that identifying expressed phage sequences in transcriptomic data can be a new and valuable approach to detect and study bacteriophages and will open the possibility to explore the enormous amount of RNA sequences present in public databases.
