Utrecht University is the oldest university in the Netherlands and consistently ranks first in the country. The ecology and biodiversity group, where the project is hosted, is an integrative research group aiming to combine the most recent advances in microbial ecology and evolution with cutting edge plant-microbe interactions. One key expertise of this group is the translation of community ecology and evolutionary models to the rhizosphere microbiome. Together, this integrative knowledge will allow us to deliver predictable bacteriophage-based biological control strategies playing with pathogen evolution to ensure an efficient plant protection.
